What information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your own data. Written plainly โ because you deserve to understand what you're agreeing to.
This Privacy Policy applies to all services operated by Courtney Turner-Serrano, including the professional portfolio and consulting services at this website, and Perfectly Unacceptable โ an AI-powered IEP advocacy tool currently in development. When you visit this site, fill out the contact form, or join the Perfectly Unacceptable waitlist, this policy governs how your information is handled.
The short version: We only collect what we need to respond to you or keep you updated. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't do anything shady.
When you use the contact form on this site to inquire about QA consulting or other professional services, we collect:
This information is submitted through Netlify Forms, a third-party form processing service. It is stored in your Netlify account and is accessible only to Courtney Turner-Serrano for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. See "Third-Party Services" below for more information on Netlify's data practices.
When you join the Perfectly Unacceptable waitlist, we collect:
This information is submitted through Netlify Forms and is used exclusively to notify you when the Perfectly Unacceptable tool becomes available, and to occasionally ask for your input on what features would be most useful to you. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Like most websites, this site may log basic technical information when you visit โ such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is standard server-side logging handled by the hosting provider (Netlify) and is not actively used to identify individual visitors. We do not currently use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes, and nothing else:
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the one you provided it for.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Full stop.
The only parties who may have access to your information are:
If we ever engage additional service providers (such as an email platform to send waitlist updates), we will update this policy and use only providers who meet appropriate data protection standards.
Contact form submissions are retained in Netlify for as long as the form data is needed to address your inquiry โ typically no longer than 12 months after our last communication. Waitlist email addresses are retained until either you unsubscribe or Perfectly Unacceptable launches and transitions to an appropriate platform with its own opt-in management.
You can request deletion of your data at any time. See "Your Rights" below.
You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at courtney@perfectlyunacceptable.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We'll respond within 48 hours for child data requests, and within 30 days for all other requests.
If you're located in the European Union, you may also have rights under the GDPR. If you're in California, you may have rights under the CCPA. If you'd like to exercise these rights specifically, please let us know in your request and we'll address it accordingly.
This website is hosted on Netlify. Netlify processes form submissions, handles server-side logging, and may collect standard technical information as part of normal web hosting operations. Netlify's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy, which you can read at netlify.com/privacy. Netlify is GDPR-compliant and does not sell user data.
This site uses Google Fonts (Playfair Display and Nunito) to display text. When the page loads, your browser may make a request to Google's servers to retrieve these fonts. Google's handling of that data is governed by their privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Child profile data and user session data are stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database platform. Supabase provides row-level security, encryption at rest and in transit, and SOC 2 Type II compliance. Your data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure and is accessible only through authenticated requests from this platform. You can review Supabase's privacy practices at supabase.com/privacy.
This site does not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, social media widgets, or any third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics). No advertiser receives information about your visit to this site.
This website and the Perfectly Unacceptable tool are designed for adults โ specifically, parents, guardians, and advocates. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under the age of 13.
This platform collects information about children with disabilities to power educational advocacy tools. All child data is provided by the parent or legal guardian โ we never collect data directly from children.
We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) โ parental consent is required before any child data is stored. Child data includes:
This data is used only to power the advocacy tools on this platform โ such as the My Child profile, Meeting Prep Mode, IEP Change Detection, and Know Your Rights tools. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to supporting your child's education.
Plain language: We store your child's information because you asked us to, so our tools can help you advocate for them. That's the only reason. Period.
We take reasonable precautions to protect the information you share with us:
Form submissions are transmitted over HTTPS, processed by Netlify's secure infrastructure, and accessed only by Courtney Turner-Serrano. We do not store payment information (services are invoiced through secure third-party platforms).
No data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have concerns about a specific submission, please contact us.
This platform is not a school and does not maintain official educational records under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
The data you enter is YOUR personal record of your child's educational journey. If you choose to share printed profiles or reports with your school team, that is your decision โ and yours alone. We will never send data to a school, district, or agency on your behalf without your explicit action.
What this means: Your child's profile lives here because you built it. You control who sees it, when they see it, and whether they see it at all.
Some features on this platform use artificial intelligence to generate responses based on federal and state education law. Please be aware:
Our tools โ including Know Your Rights, Meeting Prep Mode, IEP Change Detection, and the Complaint Letter Generator โ are built to give you a starting point and a stronger voice. They are not a substitute for qualified legal advice when you need it.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site and services evolve โ particularly as Perfectly Unacceptable moves from waitlist to active product. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you're on the waitlist, we may also email you to let you know about significant changes.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
We'd rather you ask than wonder. If something in this policy isn't clear, or if you'd like to make a privacy request, reach out directly. Real human on the other end.
